Practical information on aesthetic medicine – Plastic surgery Paris

Preliminary notes

You are about to undergo a surgical procedure, and the fact that its purpose is cosmetic changes nothing.

A pre-operative assessment is required. The procedure must be performed in an operating theatre under the best technical conditions, and the post-operative course is that of any surgical operation. In some people, recovery will be very quick and painless, with few marks. In others, there may be swelling, bruising and a feeling of tightness, which take a few weeks to disappear.

The scar will also evolve. Fine at first, in some unpredictable cases it may become red, or even raised, during the second post-operative month. Everything settles spontaneously: the scar flattens and fades within 6 months to 1 year, except on the eyelids, where the process is much faster.

The final result can only be assessed 6 months to 1 year after the procedure, or even 2 years in some cases (rhinoplasty). Imperfections may appear, some of which improve with time while others will require a correction.
If you have forgotten to mention an allergy of any kind, to penicillin or other products, be sure to tell the anaesthetist at your pre-operative consultation.

Do not take aspirin, vitamin E, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or any anticoagulant medication for at least 20 days before the operation.
Incidents, or even complications (haematomas, infections, wound separation), can occur. They prolong the post-operative course but usually do not alter the final result.

Since 5 January 2000, the French Council of State requires all surgeons to obtain informed consent from every patient, after providing clear, honest and appropriate information that also mentions exceptional risks.
An informed consent form and a quote will be given to you in addition to this leaflet for any procedure under consideration.
A minimum reflection period of 15 days must be observed between the delivery of the quote and the procedure (implementing decree of 11 July 2005).
